How do I know if Belgotex Grass is suitable for my property?

Will my dog’s urine or other waste stain the grass?
All Belgotex Grass products are pet friendly. It doesn’t stain, and urine drains through it. Any mess can be washed off with a hose.
How hot does Belgotex Grass get in summer?
Artificial grass can get hot in the summer, depending on the infill used. Rinsing your lawn with a garden hose will quickly reduce the surface temperature.
Does Belgotex Grass have a drainage system?
Belgotex Grass backing is designed with drainage holes which allow for excess water to simply slip through into the base underneath. It is important to ensure that the base has sufficient drainage.
Can I install Belgotex Grass myself?
Yes, our DIY product installations are as easy as rolling the grass over the desired area. Our other products require some cutting and joining, which is best handled by a professional. If you require a professional, find a nearby installer on our installer list.
Can artificial grass be installed over grass?
Yes, but we don’t recommend installing artificial turf over existing grass. You can run into issues with drainage, and it won’t be completely level. The weeds and grass underneath will also attempt to grow through the artificial turf.
Does it look like real grass?
Belgotex Grass looks and feels just like real grass and even has blades of different lengths and densities, just like natural grass.
Is it only for gardens?
No. Belgotex Grass can be used to transform any area. From that shady patch where the grass won’t grow, to your verandah, backyard or swimming pool, between the driveway or stepping stones, in your kids’ playroom or even your landscaped garden. There are eleven different ranges of Belgotex Grass suited to specific areas.
Is it suitable for outdoor entertaining?
Yes, it’s perfect for that! Spills and dirt can be washed away with normal water. Never use solvents and please refer harsh chemical stains to the manufacturers. Burns from cigarettes or hot coals from a braai should be removed as soon as possible and may discolour the grass. These can be professionally repaired but should be referred to your installer.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes. Belgotex Grass is safe for children and pets. It’s made from a non-slip anti-allergenic polyethylene, and provides a soft surface in the event of slips and falls.
Will my pets ruin it?
No. Just like any garden surface, Belgotex Grass will collect dirt from environmental exposure and from being walked on. Simply scoop up any mess or dirt as you would with normal grass. Sweep with a soft-bristled garden broom to restore flattened blades to their upright position.
Can it be installed on any surface?
Belgotex Grass can be installed on any flat, even surface such as concrete, stone or tar. The substrate should be flat, stable, well-condensed and preferably porous to allow for drainage. If the sub-soil is not sufficiently condensed, it may shift and settle later causing irregularities in the artificial lawn.
